Dosing Calculator
Work out how much ZEELCHEM™ product your cooling tower, boiler, RO plant, process line or slurry needs, with pump settings and monthly carboy requirement.
Dosing calculator
Estimates only. Evaporation is calculated as E = 0.00153 × R × ΔT (°C); blowdown B = E ÷ (COC − 1); product feed for cooling towers = B × dose. The right dose depends on your water analysis, metallurgy and operating conditions. Our technical team will confirm it free of charge.
Frequently asked questions
How is the evaporation rate of a cooling tower calculated?
A common estimate is E = 0.00153 × R × ΔT, where E is evaporation in m³/h, R is the recirculation rate in m³/h and ΔT is the temperature drop across the tower in °C. In US units: E (gpm) = 0.00085 × R (gpm) × ΔT (°F).
How much scale inhibitor do I need for a cooling tower?
In an open recirculating system the inhibitor leaves mainly with the blowdown, so daily product = blowdown (m³/day) × dose (mg/L) ÷ 1000 kg. Blowdown = evaporation ÷ (cycles of concentration − 1).
What does ppm as product mean?
It is the dose of the liquid product as supplied, for example HEDP 60 % solution, not of the 100 % active. The calculator also shows the active ingredient dosed.
Is the calculated dose final?
No. It is a planning estimate. The final dose depends on water chemistry, scaling indices, temperature, metallurgy and the other chemicals in your programme. Our team recommends the dose from your water analysis.
