Product overview

ZEELCHEM™ 151 is PAPEMP (polyamino polyether methylene phosphonic acid), a polymeric phosphonate with an exceptionally high calcium tolerance. It inhibits calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate and calcium phosphate scale in high-hardness, high-alkalinity and high-pH water, where conventional phosphonates precipitate as calcium phosphonate.

The polyether backbone of PAPEMP gives it water solubility and stability, while the multiple methylene phosphonic groups provide strong threshold inhibition. It allows cooling systems to run at high cycles of concentration without acid dosing, cutting water consumption and blowdown.

PAPEMP is also a premium component of RO and NF membrane antiscalants for high-hardness feed water, and is used in oilfield water injection and other high-scaling-tendency systems.

Key features & benefits

  • Exceptional calcium tolerance; resists calcium-phosphonate precipitation
  • Inhibits CaCO₃, CaSO₄ and Ca₃(PO₄)₂ scale
  • Works at high pH and high alkalinity without acid feed
  • Enables high cycles of concentration and water saving
  • Good dispersion of silica and iron
  • Stable to chlorine at normal treatment levels

Applications

  • High-hardness, high-pH cooling water
  • High-cycle and water-reuse cooling towers
  • RO and NF membrane antiscalants
  • Oilfield water injection
  • Boiler feed water treatment

Typical dose range

Estimates only. Evaporation is calculated as E = 0.00153 × R × ΔT (°C); blowdown B = E ÷ (COC − 1); product feed for cooling towers = B × dose. The right dose depends on your water analysis, metallurgy and operating conditions. Our technical team will confirm it free of charge.

Packaging

65.0 kg net HDPE carboy. Each carboy is labelled with product name, batch number, net weight and GHS hazard information.

Storage & shelf life

Store in original closed HDPE / stainless-steel containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated and shaded area away from strong alkalis and oxidisers. Avoid freezing and prolonged direct sunlight. Shelf life: 12 months in unopened packing.

Handling & safety

Acidic product. Wear chemical goggles, nitrile/PVC gloves and protective clothing. In case of eye or skin contact, rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Refer to the ZEELCHEM™ SDS (GHS / CLP format) before handling.

Frequently asked questions

What makes PAPEMP different from HEDP or ATMP?

PAPEMP has much higher calcium tolerance, so it stays in solution and keeps inhibiting scale in very hard, high-pH water where HEDP and ATMP form calcium-phosphonate precipitates.

Is PAPEMP suitable for RO antiscalants?

Yes. It is a premium phosphonate for RO and NF antiscalants treating high-hardness feed water.

Is PAPEMP the same as PAPEMPA?

Yes. Both names refer to polyamino polyether methylene phosphonic acid, CAS 130668-24-5.

What is the typical dosage of PAPEMPA?

5–30 mg/L (ppm) as product in cooling water; the final dose depends on water analysis. Use the dosing calculator on this page.
